5 Days for the Homeless
Dates: March 12th – 16th, 2012
Where: U of S Campus
Cost: All based on donations
Who: Anyone who would like to donate food, clothing, or a monetary amount to this great fundraising cause for EGADZ!
What: Five Days for the Homeless was founded at the University of Alberta’s School of Business in 2005 by Clark Barr, Frank Callele, and Robb Hart. They identified homelessness as a growing issue and wanted to find a way to give back to the community while at the same time changing the negative persona that the businesses were greedy and did not care about the community. The basic premise was the trio would give up creature comforts and basic necessities for five days to raise money and awareness for the Youth Emergency Shelter Society (YESS), a local charity.
The event has continually raised an increasing amount of donations each year since its inception. This past year in 2011, the Edwards School of Business raised approximately $18,000 for EGADZ, the U of S local 5days charity.
On March 16th, there will be a 5 Days for the Homeless wrap up event at the Sutherland Bar.
Why: Help to contribute to this amazing campaign by donating clothes, food or money, join the 5 Days committee or be a homeless participant!
